NYE Tips

I do not know why NYE is so associated with stress. It seems in fact so stressy, that every single invite I got this year reads: No Stress. To be honest, yes; It is kind of a weird night. You are expected to start eating late (Greek custom-the new year has to find you with a "full" table), eat black eyed peas (USA) or lentil soup for prosperity (Spanish/Mexican- as they kind of look like coins), wear red underwear for good luck (Spanish, not sure if it applies to men, but feel free to improvise) also wear a tie, smoke a cigars, look smoking hot, laugh out loud, dance the night away, have the best night ever.

At midnight it gets even weirder. You are supposed to kiss/skype/text your loved ones, especially your loved ONE, alternatively a handsome stranger (if he is also dark haired&tall you can combine that with the „First Footing“ at your home, whereas blond-red haired bring bad luck); while getting down to chew 12 grapes before the clock stops ticking (Spain-for 12 lucky months), yell on the top of your lungs (to scare the evil spirits away), toast champagne looking every single person in the room in the eyes, then start throwing fireworks at your neighbour’s children.  Personally I am also a little stressed the days before, because I cannot say „Guten Rutsch!“ without rolling the R.

In any case... It is just a night. Get a second pair of shoes as high heels will not bring you very far in snow/wet weather, avoid having to take a taxi, skip the long list of parties and choose just one or two and if you are on the verge of break up, better do it before than end up yelling at eachother at some street corner or in the hospital because you put your fist through a door.

Bpigs is co hosting with LEAP, what I believe to be the best party option for NYE, but as a selfless service to society, we (I) have prepared a list of all the parties. Here you go. Enjoy your night!

LEAP/Bpigs Masquerade Ball

(Berlin Carré, 1. Stock) Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 13. (Use the stairs next to the tickets kiosk)

Theme: Boom or Doom --Mask Only! Djs: Antoni Maiovvi, NIHITI ***live***, m.e.s.h., dju dju on crack (Juliette Bonneviot + Cracksmurf), Martin Backes

Starts: 22h

Show Up: This is a party to start and finish your night...-- I would definetely show up before midnight as the terrace on the 2nd floor offers and a view over Alexanderplatz and I am guessing also on the firework show on Branderburger Tor. There is a live from NIHITI from NY some time after midnight, the new Pigs will be out with an artwork by Juliette Bonneviot who is also Djing with Cracksmurf ** and there is even the possibility to get some midnight snacks by Vatos Tacos-- It is a strict No Mask-No Entry but there is a live Make Up station for the mask-shy.

Entry: 12euro --- Send us a free verse poem with the words boom and doom info@bpigs.com to get a free entry or be one of the first 20 to join our Bpigs Page in fb to be on the reduced list (7euro)

Kosmetiksalon Babette

Bar in der Karl-Marx-Allee 36

Theme: SILVESTER; DJ Ferdinand Klein/ electro dance floor

Starts: 21:30h

Show Up: Babette the night Art Forum/ abc opens is a tradition; Babette the night everybody else will be somewhere else is a questionable choice- As you can also guess from the succinct invite, this is a more laid back project still...you might want to stop by for an Absacker (very last drink); though I would not expect to find it open after 2-3pm

Entry: Free

GENERAL PUBLIC

Schoenhauser Allee 167c

Theme: Dérangé or Where did it all go wrong?--costume party / DJs: Thomas Meier and Sven Drühl + guests.

After midnight one king and one queen of catastrophe will be chosen, presented and paraded: le roi des dérangés / la reine des dérangés

make Michael Jackson, Rolf Eden, Dolly Buster and your next-door neighbour look like the beginners they are.

Starts: from 21h

Show Up: Queer, Weird, Post apocalyptic and Derranged this is definetely the perfect after (or after after) party. The space and street corner is not especially attractive for the midnight change; Start the night at Leap/Bpigs Masquerade Ball where you can enjoy the view over Alex at midnight fireworks, then around 3-4pm when you start feeling derailed- put your mask upside down and walk up the street (that is always relevant in Berlin--not for high heels).

ENTRY: FREE (or donation based--not so clear)

FLAMINGO

Kleine Präsidenten Str, Am Monbijoupark

S BAHNBÖGEN 157/158

Theme:  "MMXII YOUR ALIVE NYE 2012 @ FLAMINGO" DJs: PLANNINGTOROCK (DJ SET), CREEP (NYC / DJ SET), ANIKA INVADA (DJ SET), RROXYMORE (DJ SET), FELIX (HOT CHIP / DJ SET); HOSTED BY PEACHES

Starts: 23:30

Show Up: If you manage to get a guest list and this usually not hard @Flamingo; sure give it a try after everything else has died out, around sixish-- before it might be uncomfortably packed (2-4) or uncomfortable empty (00-02).

Entry: pre selling 15 EUR  (door....20,25??)

Atelierhof Kreuzberg

Schleiermacherstrasse 31

Theme: Rezessionserotik, Baby! I copy/cut/paste from the invite (not my spelling): They say 2012 will be the best year since 1812. There is no better way to start this magnificant 2012 than spending your New Years Eve at Atelierhof Kreuzberg. DJane Miss Ingslip/ DJ Sylvester Alone/ Dj Udo

Starts: 22h

Show Up: It took me several months to return to the scene of the crime after last year's Appartement Interlude/Bpigs party at Atelierhof Kberg; Returning exactly a year later to the same spot is something I would never do. But! Maybe you were not there; maybe you don't remember being there, maybe you are a friend of Dj Sylvester Alone, maybe you don't want  to move away from Kberg.

Entry: 3euro-

Panke

Theme: Support Your Local Ghetto -> Hello 2012, Line Up Gallery / ClubFloor: (BassMusic, Dub, Fidget, Dubstep, Glitch), Bill Robin - Dub War, Saetchmo - Echochamber, Tasmo, BarbNerdy, Bleed, Visuals by Distruktur

Starts : 00:00--09:00

Show Up: I had one little problem with this party; I had no idea what or where Panke is. After some extensive research I found out-- it is in Wedding. That would rest the case for me, but maybe not for you. Gerichtstraße 23, Wedding, 13347 Berlin

Entry: 10euro
