Fluid Ecotonalism 3.0 "Plötzensee"
As part of the Changing Room's ongoing research programme "More-than-human: Music from other species", we invite you to hear the outcome of Fluid Ecotonalism 3.0, "Plötzensee".
Fluid Ecotonalism is a collaborative, transdisciplinary, practical and poetic project that aims to empathise with bodies of water that are also considered ecotones - spaces of transition from one ecosystem to another. The project is an ongoing process and research in the form of an ecosomatic workshop conducted in connection with bodies of water, the outcomes of which result in various translations that are eventually integrated through sound.
The last edition of the workshop took place on the 22nd and 23rd of August in collaboration with Changing Room to create a sound piece resulting from the interaction with the Plötzensee in Berlin Wedding. The workshop was led by transdisciplinary artist Irene Trejo and the sound piece was created in collaboration with musician and composer Mauricio Silva Orendain.
The event consists of a presentation and concludes with a sound session in which we will hear three different translations that come from the relationship between the Plötzensee and the Atoyac and Pixquiac rivers in Mexico.
Fluid Ecotonalism is a project based on hydrocommons as well as ecosomatics and extended poetry. It is an invitation to listen to what bodies of water - fluid ecotones - have to say to us beyond ourselves. It is an invitation to think about the embodiment of liquidity and thus interface - to influence and be influenced by everything - in the common and the other. It is a hopeful invitation to open up a different perspective on water bodies that, like us, are subject to rapid change and current climate urgency.
