about

PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Spain) is the acronym used in bond analysts circles for the economicall weak countries of the EU; also a porn web site, a Berlin hostel and a gay club.

Berlin Independents Guide is an Artist Run PR Network for exhibition spaces and art related venues in Berlin. Focus is highlighting the contemporary art scene from the producer’s point of view.

It operates on two levels: a printed guide & map, and an online magazine. Admission to the guide is open to everyone. The content of the magazine is strictly editorial. The info guide comes out every two months in 5.000-8.000 copies and it is distributed for free in project spaces, galleries and bookstores. In the online magazine a changing team of artists runs a series of blogs, giving a direct access to behind the scene news and current debates.

Weekly columns include:

Have You Met… introducing the PIGS spaces and their owners to the broader public, thourgh a series of profile interviews, addressing at the same times issues of organizing and financing a gallery today in Berlin.

Pigs Tips-  a weekly newsletter of highlighted events focussing on extra, pop up actions of the gallery’s program like talks, readings, screenings and of course…after parties.

What Did I Miss- mobile pictures from the pigs team in the events we visit every week.

Reviews- weekly highlighting a show worth visiting

Book Hook- a monthly selection of current artist books and publications

Up to three weekly newsletters spread the word to the Pigs growing reader community (currently 5.000 subscribers)
